Plan for Success from the Start
Your business plan is your roadmap for your business. If you don't map out where you want to go, you will have no idea how to get there, and if you are getting close to your objective.
So what is involved in a business plan. I have seen excellent business plans as short as 5 pages, and as long as 100 or more pages. Each was right for that business owner and that business.
A few things that all business plans should have are clear short, medium and long term objectives. It should describe your business structure, and who is in charge of what. It should also have a pretty clear description of not only your product, but also your ideal customer.
Your marketing plan should also be included as a section of your business plan, descibing how your are going to attain customers, and what type of advertising you are planning.
Of course your business plan can go into much more detail, talking about things such as estimated expenses and income, ROI, marketing budgets, demographics of customers, competition analysis, etc.
Just make it right for you, put in it enough to keep you on track. Don't spend too much time planning and not enough time actually getting your business going.
